El Tren Fantasma

A railway-set thriller in which an engineer employed by a railway company arrives to investigate problems affecting the train schedules of a small town. He soon discovers that the disruptions are the work of local crooks—and that their leader is also courting the stationmaster’s beautiful daughter, with whom he himself falls in love. The action sequences, and especially the accident realized with the help of miniatures, are the film’s highlights. The acting is restrained, and a touch of street‑urchin romance suits the characters well. Lost footage has been replaced with still photographs and explanatory titles.
