The Thief of Bagdad

The undisputed main title of our festival is Hollywood fantasy at it's grandest. Based on Arabian Nights, this title directed by Raoul Walsh uses special effects perfectly by not sacrifing the story. Starring Douglas Fairbanks and Julanne Johnston, The Thief of Bagdad is a good-natured and light action flick, where the main character never stops smiling. The set by William Cameron Mendiez is one of the most legendary in American movie history. In 2008, American Film Institute voted the movie as the 9th best American fantasy movie ever.
